RFA Labour Indaba Tackles Industry Challenges
After its highly successful début on the Road Freight Association events calendar last year, the RFA Labour Indaba is back – and even better! The Programme for this year’s Indaba covers a number of labour-related challenges that truckers are facing.
This one-day event takes place on Wednesday 25 November at the aha Kopanong Hotel & Conference Centre in Benoni, East Rand. Delegates who cannot make it to Kopanong can register for the RFA Virtual Indaba.
Post-Covid Politics
Renowned political commentator, newspaper columnist and television personality Justice Malala is a special guest at the one-day event. Malala will talk about ‘Decision Time: Thriving Through SA’s Post-Covid Politics: 2020-2024’.
“As 2020 draws to a close, South Africa finds itself at yet another fork in the road,” he says. “The Covid-19 pandemic has revealed deep fault-lines in South African society. Major stresses – unemployment, poverty, inequality and others – have been exacerbated by the global pandemic. The governing African National Congress (ANC) has come under unprecedented pressure to implement major policy changes aimed at alleviating these problems. Power dynamics within the party indicate a greater enthusiasm for policy change across various sectors of the economy.”
During his presentation Malala will unpack President Ramaphosa’s political and economic reform agenda, national health insurance, income grants, land reform and restitution, solidarity and wealth taxes, prescribed assets, a state bank, sovereign wealth fund, independence of the Reserve Bank and much more.
